medley (noun) group of songs or tunes played or sung one after another; mixture of people or things; a swimming race in which each member uses a different stroke.

A medley of tunes is a mixture of a number of tunes played one after another. In a medley a number of different songs are sung one after another, all of them forming one event. A mixture of the different kinds of things or of people producing an interesting or unusual effect is a medley.

  • The audiences were treated to a medley of popular songs from old films. It was quite entertaining, as song after song regaled the audience.
  • A medley of styles can be seen in the architecture of the building. It is a mixture of the 19th and the 20th century styles of architecture.
