megalomania (noun) mental disorder which makes a person believe they are important and powerful.

A person suffers from megalomania if they have the false impression that they are all important and powerful and that they have the power and the right to control other peoples' lives. Great emperors of the past were mostly subject to megalomania. They believed they were all powerful and they could always rule others.

  • The chairman of the company has a streak of megalomania. Just because he is the head of a business empire, he feels he is all powerful and nothing can trouble him.
  • In spite of the empire he commanded, the emperor did not fall into the trap of megalomania. He was always modest in spite of his power, and never believed that none was greater than he.
