missile (noun) weapon that flies through the air over some distance and explodes the object it is aimed at; an object thrown at others to hurt them.

A nuclear missile is a nuclear weapon that flies over to the target and explodes on hitting it. Most modern militaries have developed missiles which fly over a long distance and hit the target. They are remotely controlled missiles. There are intercontinental ballistic missiles too capable of destroying targets across continents. Any object that is thrown at someone to hurt them is a missile. A stone thrown at someone to hurt them is a missile.

  • A section of the audiences who were angry at some of the speaker's remarks pelted stones at him. Some of these missiles directed at him hit the man sitting next to him on the dais.
  • Modern day nuclear missiles are capable of hitting targets at a distance of thousands of miles in a matter of minutes without the senders moving from their chairs, just at the press of a button.
