mnemonic (adj) connected with memory.

A mnemonic device is a device which helps you to remember something. For example, when you want to remember the names of certain people or a principle or a law in any subject, you sometimes think of something else closely associated with them to remember them. For example, when you want to remember the positive or negative values of sin, cos, tan of an angle (trigonometry), you remember it with the help of, 'All silver tea cups.' This is a mnemonic device.

  • The three P's are the mnemonic device to remember the golden rule of success in one's career - patience, promptness, and perseverance.
  • Mnemonic techniques are a great help. With a little concentration, we can remember a great many things with the help of these memory techniques.
