mollify (verb) make less angry; soothe.

When you mollify a person, you make them feel less angry or less upset about something. You soothe or make a person cool down when you mollify them. When a person is angry, you mollify them, if you make them less angry. When someone is very upset about something, and if your words pacify them, you mollify them.
