parallelism (noun) similarity.

Parallelism is the state of two or more things being similar. You find parallelism between two persons or two situations if the two persons or the situations are similar. 'A parallelism between the son and the father is seen in their wives leaving them exactly when they were the same age.' This means that the wife of the son divorced him when he was at an age as his father when his wife divorced him.

  • The parallelism between the two countries ends with both countries becoming independent on the same day. Whereas one of them continues to be a democracy, the other has passed under military rule.
  • The attempt to find parallelism between the two situations did not succeed. No similarity between the two could be found anywhere.
