perquisite (noun) something offered to an employee in addition to salary.

[usually plural] A perquisite is something a person receives in addition to their salary. Usually the perquisite is in the form of a car, rent free accommodation, etc. Sometimes the perquisites or the perks make the job more attractive than the salary.

  • The perquisites he gets include a car, rent free accommodation, children’s education allowance, etc. These are in addition to his salary.
  • Some jobs carry perquisites which are definitely more attractive than salary. People are after those jobs, not just for the salary, but for the additional facilities like vehicle, plane flights on business tours, paid holidays, etc., which work out more than the salary.
