When you peruse something written or printed, you read it with great care. You peruse a bill of accounts, when you read it carefully to check whether it is correct or not, whether all figures are correctly entered or not. When you peruse a report, you read it carefully to understand what it exactly means.
- The income tax officials perused the statement of income and expenditure of the man, and pointed out that certain entries had been omitted. He did not expect them to read the statement so thoroughly.
