A person has a phobia of something if he has unreasonable fear or hatred of something, often as a result of a psychological condition. Claustrophobia, for example, is a fear of enclosed places. People with this phobia feel nervous or uncomfortable in close and enclosed places. Agoraphobia is a fear of open places.
