placid (adj) of a person/animal calm and not easily made angry; calm and peaceful.

A placid person or animal is not easily excited. They do not easily get angry. A placid child is a calm child. A placid horse is not jumpy. The placid waters of a lake are calm and undisturbed. The placid atmosphere of a place is the calm and peaceful atmosphere of the place.

  • It is easy to manage the baby as it is placid. The baby is usually calm and even if it is irritated and cries now and then, a song quiets the child.
  • One could clearly see in the placid waters of the lake the reflection of the surrounding mountains. The lake was calm and still without a single ripple.
