plait (verb) braid, interlace.

A girl plaits her hair if she twists three long pieces of her hair together to make one piece of long hair. When you plait rope, you take three or more ropes and twist them over and under one another to make one rope. Plaited twigs are three or more twigs woven into one. Most girls plait there hair, if the hair is long enough.

  • The way she plaited her hair showed that she did it in a hurry, and it contrasted with her sisterís bobbed hair neatly done up.
  • The basket I bought at the handicrafts show room had plaited handles of cane. The weaving together of cane strands was intricate and looked attractive.
