A substance has plasticity if it can be made into any shape. Plasticity gives a material the ability to be molded into any shape. Wet clay has plasticity, that is, it can be shaped into any form. Plastic has plasticity, and because of it, it can be shaped into any form.

  • Plastic has found such wide use in modern times because of its plasticity. If heated to suitable temperature and used with proper density, it can be easily molded into any useful shape.
  • Any material has some degree of plasticity only in its molten state, and can be molded into any form. Once it is solidified it becomes rigid and hardened, and cannot be bent.
