A plethora of detail is excess of detail; more detail than you can use or need. An amount of something that is more than you need or can use is a plethora. A plethora of paper work is excess of paper work. A plethora of advice is more advice than you need or can benefit from.
- Some of the member committees complain that the UN has set up, over the years, a plethora of committees, and that a huge amount is being wasted on their sittings. Some of the committees, they feel, are not needed at all and are not useful.
