prattle (verb) talk a lot about unimportant and silly things.

When you prattle you go on talking a lot about things of little or no importance. When a person prattles they talk on endlessly about unimportant or silly things. ‘He prattles frequently; only, he should have the opportunity.’ This means that he goes on talking about uninteresting and unimportant matters if he gets the opportunity.

  • As the night advanced, he prattled on about his childhood experiences some thirty five years before. He went on talking without caring whether others were listening or not.
  • Usually very reserved, Nixon prattled about his experiences as a teacher in a small school. It interested none, but still he talked on.
