Einstein was the pre-eminent scientist of his day because he was more important, more famous and greater than any other scientist of the times. The pre-eminent artiste of Hollywood is the greatest artiste of Hollywood. A pre-eminent writer is the greatest writer of his times. One who is superior to others in a particular field is preeminent in that field.

  • Environment plays a pre-eminent role in the way of living of a people. The majority occupation of a people in a place is determined mostly by the environmental factors like the location of the place, its climate, its natural resources, etc.
  • ‘Bill Gates’ Microsoft has been playing a pre-eminent role in the evolution of software and its major applications. No other company equals it at present in its profits, and applications.
