precocious (adj) having abilities beyond one’s age

A precocious child has abilities far above its age. A precocious genius has the ability of acting and thinking like a person of a much higher age. They have talents above their age. We have examples of precocious musicians, scientists, actors, etc., who at too young an age display abilities that are usually seen in people of a much higher age.

  • A precocious genius, she showed great talent for music at the age of five, and she started singing in public at the age of ten.
  • The precocious chess player became a grandmaster of the game at the age of twelve. Though he started at the age of six playing chess, he acquired proficiency in the game very early in his life.
