When you have a predilection for something you have a preference for it. You have a great liking for it. You have a predilection for gossiping if you like gossiping very much. Your predilection for adventure is your strong liking for adventure.

  • Shakespeare had great predilection for pun that is, using a word with more meanings than one. We very frequently come across passages in his plays in which he plays on words by using them with more than one meaning.
  • His predilection for gambling is seen in the risky and rash decisions which he often takes. Taking chances rather than planning is almost a habit with him, and he always hopes for good results.
