A prevalent belief is a belief that exists at a particular time and place among a group of people. A prevalent practice is a very common practice. A disease that is common in an area is prevalent there. ‘Racial prejudices are still prevalent in certain countries.’ This means that prejudices against other races are still common, and are still to be found in certain countries.

  • AIDS, according to a WHO survey, is more prevalent among the developing nations than among the developed ones. This is not surprising, as the Medicare facilities in the developing countries are not satisfactory.
