A prominent statesman is a well known or important statesman. A prominent actor is a well known actor. A prominent leader is a famous leader. A prominent quality is a quality that is easily observed or seen. A prominent feature is an easily noticeable feature. Anything that is prominent sticks out and can therefore easily is seen. A prominent nose, for example, is a nose that is very pointed and appears as the most important part of the face.

  • Among the prominent guests at the party was the president. There were some leading businessmen, but the centre of attraction was the president.
  • The prominent feature of this year’s sporting season was the winning of the football trophy by the US. No other news excited the Americans so much as this victory.
