prophetic (adj) stating future.

A statement about future is prophetic if it proves to be correct. ‘His words were prophetic.’ This means that his words about a future happening proved to be correct. A person’s statement turns out to be prophetic, if his statement about future turns out to be correct.

  • The words of John the Baptist that a greater man would come to save the sinning humanity proved prophetic. Proving his words correct, Jesus Christ was born to save humanity.
  • The words of my friend that I will one day become a millionaire proved prophetic, as I have really become one.
