A young person you support, guide and protect is your protégé. A senior guiding a youngster and offering him all help and support has a protégé in that person. If A is the protégé of B, then A has the guidance and protection of B.

  • Plato, the ancient Greek philosopher and scholar was the protégé of Socrates. He was Socrates’ favorite disciple and enjoyed his guidance and support.
  • He is always quick to go the rescue of his protégé, who was his nephew. He would not allow the nephew to be ill treated by others.
