A protuberance is a part of something that projects from it, that sticks out of it. Large trees have protuberances on their trunks, that is, portions that bulge out of their trunks. The horns of animal are protuberances from their heads. Some fishes have protuberances on their backs.
- The rhinoceros has protuberances in the form of horns on its head. The Indian rhino has only a single protuberance in the form of a horn on its head.
