rant (verb) talk excitedly and angrily.

You rant when you talk excitedly and angrily about something you do not like. When you rant you talk and complain strongly, angrily and loudly about something because you feel that it is unjust or unfair. People rant when they feel they have been treated unjustly. They then shout angrily and complainingly.

  • On knowing that his daughter had married against his will, the father ranted at her. He shouted very angrily at her haste and lack of judgment and threatened to cut her off from his party.
  • The customer felt cheated by the shopman and began to rant at him. He shouted angrily that he would take the case to the consumers’ forum.
