When an enemy army ravages a country it robs people of their belongings and completely destroys every thing there. When a country is damaged by a civil war, the civil war ravages it. Famines and draughts ravage a place if they destroy a place completely.

  • It was distressing to see children suffering from acute malnutrition in a country ravaged by war and famine. They left the country totally destroyed with the result that the people had nothing to eat and nothing to live on.
  • Ravaged by the frequent cyclones and an earthquake, the countryside experienced utter poverty and there were starvation deaths.
