rebuttal (noun) the act of proving a statement or a complaint against someone wrong.

Your rebuttal of charges against you is your strong statement proving the charges false. You meet criticism against you with your strong rebuttal if you establish that it is false. The government and the opposition indulge in rebuttal of otherís criticism against the other, that is, each tries to prove the othersí criticism wrong.

  • His rebuttal of the complaints against him surprised none. He is known for his honesty, and he was able to prove in his reply that his complaints were all false.
