recrimination (noun) mutual accusation.

A person complaining about one another for something that has gone wrong is recrimination. Making changes against one another, or one complaining in return for the other’s complaint is recrimination. ‘There were recriminations between the producer and the director for the failure of the movie.’ This means that the producer and the director blamed each other for the failure of the movie.

  • The wife and the husband spent the whole evening on recriminations for the miscarriage of the pregnancy. The husband blamed the wife for not following the doctor’s instructions and wife charged that the husband had not taken proper care of her.
  • The coach and the captain indulged in mutual recrimination for the failure of the team to reach the finals. While the captain complained of lack of regular training from the coach, the coach blamed the players including the captain for their irregular attendance at the fitness camps.
