You get back your normal health after a period of illness if you recuperate. Medicines and treatment help us to recuperate, that is, they help us to get back our normal health after illness. Getting back the money that one has spent or lost is recuperating. We recuperate our losses if we are able to get back the money lost in business or in some other way.
