repellent (adj) causing strong dislike; driving away.
If a substance is repellent it is so unpleasant that we don't approach it. We dislike it. Pictures are repellent if we dislike them to the extent of not wishing to see them. Substances that drive away mosquitoes, because of their unpleasant odor, are mosquito repellent. Ideas, which are repellent, are so unpleasant that people dislike them.
- I found his talking too much about himself and of his achievement very repellent, and so avoided his company. His talking so much about himself turned me away from him.
