saboteur (noun) destroyer of property.

A saboteur is a person who commits sabotage; that is, damaging or destroying deliberately someoneís property to prevent him or her from using it, or to oppose something. In the process they donít mind causing the death of innocent people too. A person destroying or damaging deliberately public property like railway tracks, government buildings, etc., is a saboteur. Terrorists who destroyed the World Trade Center on 11th Sep were saboteurs. Theirs was an act of sabotage.

  • The saboteur, who set fire to the train to kill all the people there, because they were mostly of other religion, is yet to be arrested. The police are trying their best to catch him.
  • Strict vigilance by the police prevented the saboteurs from blowing up the bridge. The police took precautionary steps on advance information from an anonymous phone call.
