To sequester is to keep a person or a group of people away from other people so that they may not talk to them. To avoid the members of the jury [a group of people assisting a judge in giving judgment] from being influenced by the others, the jury is usually sequestered. That is, the members of the jury are kept away from the other people, the media persons and the TV.
- It being an important case, the judge ordered that the jury be sequestered. Till the judgment was given they were kept away from the public and the other people connected with the case.
