servile (adj) slavish; like a slave.

A servile person is a slavish person. He is over obedient to people, and is ready to do their orders, even when it is not necessary to be so obedient. They wish too much to please others.

  • His servile attitude made his colleagues feel uneasy. As he was eager to please the boss and was very obedient to him, the boss expected the same obedience from the others, which they hated.
  • The kings of the past expected the people to be servile. They felt it was the duty of the people to obey their orders slavishly.
