Surveillance is the act of carefully watching a person or a place because the police, the army, etc., suspect they may be connected with crime. The police conduct surveillance if they watch carefully a person suspected of a crime, or a place where a crime may be or may have been committed.
- On surveillance the Intelligence Bureau found out that Charles had connections with terrorist agencies. They had watched his movements carefully for three months to find it out.
- Surveillance of the place by the army yielded no evidence of the place being used for criminal activities. Their watch of the place gave them no reason for any suspicion.
