tentative (adj) [of an arrangement, agreement, etc.] not definite or certain; not confident.
A tentative arrangement/agreement is not a definite arrangement and is likely to be changed later. It is more or less an arrangement for the time being and is to be confirmed later. When a person is not confident about doing something and is hesitant, they are tentative. A tentative attempt is not an attempt made with confidence.
- The timetable for the matches is tentative. The schedule is not final and there are likely to be some changes.
