thematic (adj) connected with the theme of a story, play, etc.

The thematic structure of a book is the way the theme of the subject matter of the book is presented. The thematic unity of a play is the oneness of the subject matter treated in the play, without any subplots.

  • The thematic structure of the play being very poor, very few audiences found it interesting. The playwright failed to present the theme in a proper manner.
  • There appears a thematic unity in the three novels he has written. They appear to deal with the same kind of theme though in different forms.
