When a person thrives they become prosperous, that is, they become wealthy. A company thrives when it earns huge profits. To thrive is also to grow well. If a crop thrives in a certain climate, it grows in that climate.

  • Being very industrious, Nelson is now thriving. He has become prosperous, and is growing wealthier year by year.
  • Wheat thrives in subtropical regions with good rainfall. Wheat grows well in regions, which are not very hot, and has good rainfall.
