torpor (noun) inactive and sleepy condition.

Torpor is the state of not being active or energetic. When you are in torpor you are lazy and sleepy and do not feel like doing any work. Animals in the winter go into torpor, during which they are inactive and have no energy to move about.

  • The hot sun sent them into torpor under the shades of the branches of the big tree. They were feeling inactive and did not feel like getting up and moving about.
  • The torpor he was in, he could shake off, when he came to know that his life was in danger. That alone could free him from the inactive and sleepy state he was in.
