torque (noun) the force causing machinery, a wheel in a motor, rotate.

Torque is the force that makes something turn around a central point, especially in an engine. It is the twisting force that makes a machinery turn round and round. For example the force with which we turn a screw to tighten something is torque. We use implements like wrenches, pliers to get more torque, that is, more power to make the screw turn.

  • The torque the engine has is sufficient to make the engine wheels move at the present speed. The rotating power of the engine is enough to make it move at the present speed.
  • I used a wrench to get more torque to make the screw turn. The wrench was certainly helpful in making me get more twisting power.
