Transgression is violation of law, moral principle, or a social custom. Going against law, morals, customs and traditions is transgression. Lying is a transgression because it is against morals.
- His transgression of the country’s laws was punished with a jail term of ten years. Because he broke the law of the country he was jailed for ten years.
