A travesty of something is an extremely bad form of something that is supposed to be very serious and valuable. A travesty of justice, though called justice, does not have the qualities and standards justice must have. A travesty of marriage does not have the holiness of marriage and marriage only in name. The wife and the husband are not really a loving pair. A travesty of truth is not truth though people might say that it is the truth.
- To say that one can get real justice in modern courts is only a travesty of truth. Their judgments have all the show of justice but really lack justice. It is a mockery of justice.
- The government’s claims are a travesty of facts. Its claims, though supported by statistics, are not facts, and the progress it claims is not really experienced by the people.
