trepidation (noun) anxiety, worry and fear about what might happen.

You experience trepidation just when, about to take an exam, you are worried and afraid that you might not do well in the exam. Trepidation is thus a mixture of fear, worry and anxiety caused by the feeling that something bad is going to happen.
