A weapon with a long metal bar and with three points at one end is a trident. The weapon of Lord Siva in the Hindu mythology is the trident, a three-pronged weapon.

  • In Greek mythology Neptune, the god of the sea is shown as rising out of the sea, and carrying a trident. It had a long staff with three points at one of its ends.
  • The trident adorns all the statues of Lord Siva in Hindu mythology. In most Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Siva, a trident can be seen fixed in the ground in front of the idol.
