turbid (adj) (of water or any liquid) thick with dirt and mud.

Turbid water or liquid is dirty and muddy and so thick because of it that you cannot se through it. When a river is in floods the water is turbid, that is, muddy and dirty.

  • The turbid waters of the river in floods flowed on to the fields submerging them. The muddy water covered most of the fields nearby.
  • The water, being turbid, was not safe for drinking as well as for washing. It was muddy and dirty.
