unravel (verb) disentangle; explain or understand something complicated.
When you unravel threads that are twisted together or when they unravel, they separate. If you unravel a mystery, you understand or explain something very complicated and confusing. When you unravel something, you come to understand it very clearly and you are no more confused.
- The telephone cord and computer cords were all tangled up. It took some 10 minutes for him to unravel the mixed mass of wires. He separated the cords and straightened them.
