vantage (noun) (Used always as part of the phrase, vantage point) an advantageous point.

A vantage point is an advantageous point. A vantage point is a position from which you can see things clearly or attack the enemy because the position you are in is vary favorable for you to attack the enemy.

  • As the grand procession moved on, people got on to roof tops, trees and walls to see it from these vantage points. These positions, because of their height really gave them a clear view of the procession.
  • The top of the hills on which it was, the attacking army was at a vantage point. The height of the position gave them an advantage over the enemy army below.
