vex (verb) worry or annoy.
When you vex somebody you annoy or worry them. When, for example, somebody goes on doing something what you tell him or her not to do, they vex you. That is, they make you angry or worry you.
- He vexes me with his repeated requests for my help, just when I am very busy. That annoys me very much, and the next time, I will tell him to get out.
- Annie is too patient. Her children are very noisy and mischievous, but nothing that they do vexes her. She does not feel bad or worried and tolerates all that.
