Arkansas State University is a destination university located in Jonesboro, AR, with a national profile of excellence in higher education combining outstanding student instruction with world-class faculty. Focusing on our mission statement of educating leaders, enhancing intellectual growth and enriching lives, Arkansas State offers programs at the doctoral, specialists, masters, bachelors and associates degree levels. Classes also are offered through the Honors College and the independent Department of Military Science. A-States commitment to excellence is evidenced by its accreditation by The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, as well as specialized accrediting organizations. In addition, the university holds membership in numerous national and international organizations that support the highest educational standards. In Fall 2015, 13,410 students attended the university, which included students from 58 countries. Most of A-States faculty hold the highest possible degrees and are recognized leaders in their fields. A-State is also home to the state-of-the-art Arkansas Biosciences Institute, where undergraduates can conduct cutting-edge research. On-campus life is thriving with record numbers of students living in-residence on the campus, and record participation numbers in social organizations. There are 165 campus organizations, mens and womens intramural sports, and 20 national Greek organizations with seven fraternity chapter houses and five sorority houses. Campus life is vibrant at A-State, starting with the Reng Student Union and its food court featuring nationally known outlets, working out in the Red W.O.L.F. (Wellness Opportunities for Life Fitness) Center, catching an athletic event or seeing exciting programs and concerts, including poets, athletes, dancers and musicians from symphony orchestras to legendary bluesmen. A-State offers choices for on-campus living. From traditional residence halls to garden apartments, each residence offers a unique living environment, including first-year residence experience, coed and single-sex halls, and family housing. A-State also offers the Honors Living-Learning Community (HLLC), which is composed of three separate residential buildings and an Honors classroom that creates a distinct sense of identity for Honors students, while signifying A-States continued commitment to quality education. The HLLC lets Honors students thrive in a residential environment designed with their educational pursuits in mind. The Red Wolves compete in NCAA Division I with BCS football, the top level, with 16 intercollegiate sports, seven mens sports and nine womens intercollegiate sports. Mens sports include baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, and both indoor and outdoor track. Womens sports include basketball, bowling, cross country, golf, soccer, tennis, indoor and outdoor track, and volleyball.
