California Lutheran University
California Lutheran University helps students to pursue their passions, discover their purpose and follow that purpose to transform their communities and the world. Small class sizes and low faculty-student ratios enable undergraduate and graduate students to work closely with their dedicated and accomplished professors, becoming partners in learning and research.Founded in 1959, Cal Lutheran is a selective institution dedicated to academic excellence in the liberal arts and sciences and professional fields. Its mission is to educate leaders for a global society who are strong in character and judgment, confident in their identity and vocation, and committed to service and justice. Rooted in the Lutheran tradition, the university encourages critical inquiry into matters of both faith and reason. Cal Lutheran provides a challenging academic environment in management, education, psychology, science and the humanities. Cal Lutheran offers 35 undergraduate majors as well as several masters and doctoral programs. Members of the Cal Lutheran student body come from across the nation and about 40 countries, representing a diversity of faiths and cultures. International and study abroad programs are strong. University life is active, with a majority of undergraduate students living on campus and high participation rates in intramural sports and other activities. Service is integrated throughout the curriculum and extracurricular activities. Cal Lutherans intercollegiate athletic teams have garnered many titles competing at the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III level. The universitys new athletics complex includes a stadium, sports and fitness center, aquatics center, tennis courts and baseball and softball fields.
