Doane University

With a strong history, a solid reputation of academic excellence, and an exciting future, its apparent why Doane College occupies a distinguished place among liberal arts colleges of the Midwest and Great Plains. In 1872, Doane College was the first liberal arts and sciences college in Nebraska. Today, the campus in Crete covers 300 park-like acres designated a Nebraska Statewide Arboretum site and among its beautiful historic and contemporary buildings are three listed in the National Register of Historic Places. More than 1,000 students enroll on the Crete campus each academic year, and most are recent high school graduates who appreciate the enriching campus life at Doane.Students attending or graduating from Doane invariably remark about its inclusive family-oriented approach to living and learning. Programs which support and encourage this positive atmosphere include: a comprehensive leadership program, featuring curricular development, nationally known speakers and experts, and alumni networking and mentoring; a $1000 travel scholarship for all matriculating students, to use on college-sponsored trips in the U.S. or abroad; a four-year guarantee, with additional classes paid for by the college if not met; the nations first teacher education warranty, guaranteeing hiring schools of the quality of Doanes graduates; and an honors program which requires study abroad.
