Eureka College, affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), is a liberal arts and science institution, which also provides professional programs with a liberal arts emphasis. The College exists to cultivate excellence in learning, service, and leadership through the mutual development of intellect and character to enable graduates tolead meaningful lives and have successful careers. As a college community, we believe the liberal arts at Eureka College teaches students to seek complexity, prepares them to be lifelong learners who live examined lives, and develops their ability to empathize with others. All members of the Eureka College community strive to abide by the following guiding principles: Demonstrate to students complexity and ambiguity, and teach them to seek and embrace their presence in every situation; Teach students to make connections across disciplines that enable them to make informed decisions and solve problems creatively; Develop lifelong learners who are intellectually curious and who will examine and adjust their values and actions throughout their personal and professional lives; Develop in students the capacity to empathize, communicate, and actively engage with others; Foster an appreciation of Western cultural heritage while also teaching them the importance of diverse cultures and cultural perspectives; Expand imaginative and creative capacity in all; Develop in students the capacity to make discriminating judgments about what they want and need to learn; Develop students in all aspects of their lives: intellectual, spiritual, physical, and social. Eureka College has remained student centered since its founding in 1855, dedicated to providing transformational opportunities to all students.
