University of Mount Olive

The University of Mount Olive has become one of the most unique and fastest growing private educational institutions in North Carolina. Whether a student is getting ready to graduate from high school, wanting to transfer to a new college setting, or is a working adult with little time to earn a college degree, the University of Mount Olive provides students with programs to fit their individual needs in a time and setting convenient for any lifestyle. UMO is listed by the North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities as the fourth most affordable private college in North Carolina. In its traditional program, the University of Mount Olive offers over 40 different majors. Fields of study include agriculture, business, science, mathematics, criminal justice, language, literature, psychology, education, the arts, and religion. The average class size at UMO is under 25. Transformational experiences occur outside the classroom in more than 30 student organizations, professional and collegiate clubs, performing groups, internships, and community service opportunities. Students have the opportunity to compete on 20 highly-competitive NCAA Division II intercollegiate athletic teams.UMO also offers one-night-a-week baccalaureate degree programs for adult students. Bachelor degree options include accounting, business management, criminal justice and criminology, early childhood education, healthcare management, human resource management, leadership, management information systems, and religious studies. An associate degree in general studies is also available. These programs are offered at University of Mount Olive locations in Mount Olive, Jacksonville, New Bern, Research Triangle Park, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, Smithfield at Johnston Community College, Washington, and Wilmington. The University offers online programs including the RN to BSN program for registered nurses who have graduated with an associate degree or diploma in nursing; criminal justice and criminology; and the associate degree in General Studies. Graduate programs include the Master of Business Administration, Master of Education, and Master of Science in Nursing degrees. In addition to all of the educational options, the University of Mount Olive is uniquely positioned to offer a wonderful cultural climate. On any given day, visitors can experience art exhibitions, musical performances, guest lectures, drama productions, and athletic competitions. The Music Department has moved into an expanded and renovated space, providing much needed room for the assembly of creative ideas. The Art Department has plans for spreading its wings and finding new direction while strengthening its current offerings. Collaborations have begun on a new digital arts journal. There are exciting new partnerships in the works with local community colleges, local Arts Councils, and area public schools to expand and enhance the arts.
